TEETH WHITENING

WHAT IS THE TEETH WHITENING PROCESS?

Teeth whitening is a preferred method of dental treatment to change the color of the tooth to a lighter color than it is. Teeth whitening is called “Bleaching” by dentists. In this treatment method, it is preferred to make the tooth color appear whiter than it is. Teeth color may be yellow or darker than yellow, depending on genetic factors or dietary habits. In other words, the change in tooth color is based on genetic factors and may occur later. Teeth whitening treatment can provide an even more aesthetic appearance to tooth colors that are not considered aesthetically beautiful. Even if dental and oral care is carried out regularly every day, there may be yellowing in the color of the teeth in the mouth, or non-whitening tooth colors or staining on the tooth surfaces. If there is no visible lightening/whitening in the color of your teeth after the teeth whitening process, that is, if the treatment does not produce results, this tooth color is considered a permanent tooth color just like the patient’s skin color.

HOW IS TEETH WHITENING PERFORMED?

At-home teeth whitening is carried out with a set of teeth whitening granules, which are considered whitening agents, defined as “carbamide peroxide” at a low rate.

At the first appointment with the dentist, the color of the tooth is determined and the patient's mouth size is taken to produce teeth whitening plates, and these plates are prepared for each patient and suitable for the patient's mouth.

If the second examination is at the appointment, whitening tubes and prepared plates are given to the patient. In this appointment process, the dentist explains how the patient will do this teeth whitening process and what should be paid attention to.

The patient can apply the teeth whitening process by himself at home, as recommended by the dentist. These teeth whitening applications can be continued at home for 2 weeks, twice a day, or for 1 week to 2 weeks, by applying them only at night.

WHAT ARE THE TEETH WHITENING METHODS?

Teeth whitening treatment can be applied with three different methods, these teeth whitening methods can be listed as follows;

– Teeth whitening with laser
– Teeth whitening at home
– Teeth whitening applied by dentists in clinics

Teeth whitening treatment applied in oral and dental health clinics is a teeth whitening method applied with whitening gel and whitening light. All soft tissues of the tooth are protected by a barrier so that the light does not harm them, and then the whitening gel is applied to the tooth surfaces and the whitening gel is activated with the help of blue light. This process can be applied until the desired tooth color is achieved. During this period, it can be applied in two sessions, one week apart.

Tooth whitening treatment with laser is preferred as an advantageous teeth whitening method. This teeth whitening process can be applied to the patient’s teeth in a short time. After the soft tissues in the mouth are protected, the teeth whitening process can be completed in about 4 minutes to 5 minutes.

WHAT IS OFFICE TYPE TEETH WHITENING PROCEDURE?

Office type teeth whitening is the most preferred treatment method. It is considered a more effective method than at-home teeth whitening process, thanks to its low-dose teeth whitening pigments. In-office teeth whitening takes place under carefully monitored conditions that allow the safe, controlled, painless use of relatively high concentrations of bleaching agents, and immediate visible results can be achieved.

● Office type teeth whitening is the fastest-acting tooth whitening method.
● It is considered the safest method of teeth whitening.
● Protects gums and tooth sensitivity
